What do you do for a living?:
I am a Chief Financial Officer.

Tell us about yourself (tell us about your family, your hobbies, interests, etc):
I have a wonderful husband of 13 years and 3 terrific children. Melina, is 13 attends Brixner, she is in the National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, and a teacher aid. Eric is 11 years old, he has an incredible love of bugs, animals and anything outside. Aron is 8 years old, he has the best smile beautiful eyes and great rhythm (loves to dance). Both boys attend
Ferguson.

Tell us your fitness history (was there a time where you in shape? If so, what happened?? Were you always out of shape?):
As a child and even though my teens I could eat anything and not gain a pound. I was always the smallest and everyone called me petite. Through my younger years I took dance lessons and even taught for a while. I’m sure that helped to keep me in shape. At age 25 I was a size 5 and weighed 125lbs and at that time I considered myself to be over weight. When my husband and I got married he couldn’t understand why I always baked but never ate it. Occasionally I would eat some but for the most part I took most of what I made to friends or family. I just liked to bake. Well my husband is a great cook and he has taught me to be a better cook. So, I began to eat what I made. Also, when I got pregnant with my first child I wasn’t careful about what I ate. I seemed to be hungry all the time and I frequented Dairy Queen. I guess I just thought that I would have the baby then all the weight would come off. It wasn’t like that at all. The majority of my weight gain from at that time. I gained probably 40-50lbs and didn’t loose any after Melina was born. (She likes to bump me with her behind and then when I bump back she says, “I gave you that butt, don’t use it against meJ).

After my second and third pregnancies I gained some and seem to just keep gaining.. I regularly have to buy new clothes because they stop fitting and get so uncomfortable. This past year I have tried so many times to loose weight, but I can’t seem to fight the urge to eat and over eat.

What made you enter the Belly Buster?:
Well, I think it was a God thing. I have tried to loose weight for quite a while and get so frustrated because I just crave all those foods that are making me fat. I have gotten to really hate how I look. I hate to see pictures of myself and feel embarrassed to see family or friends that I haven’t seen in a long time because I have gotten so over weight. I have prayed that God will give me what I need to get back into weight and that is exactly what He did. I turned on the radio to KLAD at just the moment that I heard about the challenge. So I thought what the heck. I went on line and registered. I knew a lot of people would do the same thing. I really didn’t expect to be one of the few chosen. I was so surprised when I got that first call from Rob telling me that I was chosen. Even at that time I expected there to be a catch or something. But their wasn’t. I was on the team. I was so excited. I called my entire family and that was it my mind was made up and I knew that by the end of January I would be a new person. I thank God and KLAD each day for this incredible opportunity.

What are your goals in the Belly Buster?
My initial goal is to get down to 140lbs. My next goal would be to hit the 130lb mark. Also, I’d like to loose 2 pant sizes. Most important, my goal is to feel better/healthier. I want to go on hikes or bike rides with my kids and be able to keep up. I want to walk up the stairs without being winded. I want my kids to be proud of me as their mom and not have to defend us (my husband and myself) because the kids at school say that we are fat. Also, a huge goal is to get my husband involved in eating right and exercising.

What do you think will be your biggest challenges in the Belly Buster??
Dairy Queen, Cold Stone, Baskin Robins. FOOD is a huge challenge for me. I like it. I like it a lot.

What are your long term fitness goals, for when the Belly Buster is over??
Win or not, I intend to continue at the Recovery Zone. I plan to keep the work out routine, find what works with my family. I’ll continue to work out and eat better. And I will absolutely keep my weight in check and not assume that the weight will just fall off.

Again, I want to thank KLAD and the Recover Zone. This is awsome.
